Commercial Food versus Natural Diet
Pet food is an 11 billion dollar a year industry in the US alone. Many pet food manufacturers take waste products from the human food industry and turn them into profit. Most brands, from supermarket foods to so-called premium pet foods, use inferior if not downright disgusting ingredients as well as artificial flavorings, colorings, preservatives and other chemicals which have been proven to have harmful effects on the health of our companions.
Many health issues can be directly related to the foods that our pet's eat. Foods that contain corn, corn-meal, chemical preservatives, food coloring, wheat, and by-products are some of the culprits aiding in the decline of our pet's immune system, hence leading to allergies, skin/ear irritations, obesity, cancer, arthritis, liver and kidney disease to name a few.
Our pet's body innately understands whole foods, herbs, and chemical free, Non-GMO ingredients. Once we incorporate this understanding into our pet’s nutritional plans, they begin to flourish and thrive. The Vital Force of the body strengthens and the immune system has the potential to become strong enough to ward off illness and disease.
Through consultation, I can put together a nutritional protocol specific to your pet's needs.
What is holistic nutrition?
By definition the word “holistic” refers to the integration of body, mind and spirit. Holistic nutrition strives to bring balance to all of these aspects of the human being. The holistic view sees the human body as a whole unit with intricate systems that depend on one another to operate optimally and efficiently. At a fundamental level, holistic nutrition focuses on the biochemistry of the human body, and recognizes the importance of creating balance if imbalances exist.
Food is the foundation of holistic nutrition. With an emphasis on quality ingredients, a holistic eating lifestyle consists of organic, whole foods that are grown locally and enjoyed in-season. A key element of holistic eating is to incorporate foods that are nutrient-dense while avoiding foods that have been depleted of their nutrient content, such as processed foods or foods that have been degraded during growth and/or preparation.
Proper nutrition is the basis for optimum health and well being. Holistic nutrition is the natural approach to developing a healthy balanced way of eating while taking into account the person as whole. Holistic nutrition is considered to be part of holistic health..
Holistic nutrition focuses on:
*Educating yourself on basic nutritional terms
*Incorporating natural and organic foods
*Overcoming obstacles in practicing holistic nutrition
*creating simple holistic menus
*Developing a customized holistic diet
*Addressing the role of natural holistic supplements
*Addressing chronic health conditions with holistic nutrition
The basics of holistic nutrition:
Food not only provides the energy needed to function in our daily lives but constantly supplies the nutrients which are required to build and regenerate body tissue, bone, muscle, fat and blood. The nutrients in food are also necessary to produce substances for the chemical processes that take place in our bodies millions of times
